A Day of Habits, Shopping, and Small Wins

Today I woke up at 10 a.m. and, as usual, the first thing I did was scroll through my timeline. It’s one of those habits I keep telling myself to break, but somehow it sneaks back every morning. After that, I logged into Habitica to check my daily tiny habits—drinking a glass of water, brushing my teeth, doing some morning exercise, and a quick minute of breathing techniques. Then I hopped onto Duolingo to practice some Japanese. Somewhere in between, I stole a bite of a sweet from the freezer.

While munching, I suddenly remembered I have a quiz on EEE 3209 on the 28th. That pulled me back to reality, and I decided to focus on finishing that first. Later, I cooked rice and had my breakfast around 12 p.m. Not the earliest start, but at least I managed to take care of myself—how nice of me!

In between, I received a university notice: the campus will remain closed from 28 September to 02 October for Durga Puja. But, of course, the catch is that classes will be held on Saturdays (06 and 13 September) to make up for the lost days. Honestly, I don’t get it—if it’s a holiday, why not just let us breathe instead of squeezing everything into weekends? Feels like a give-and-take deal.

Around 3 p.m., I went shopping with my girlfriend for her friend’s upcoming wedding. She bought some foundation and makeup items—I couldn’t really tell which does what, but she knew. Then we went to Men’s World where I bought a formal pant and shirt that surprisingly fit me really well. Afterwards, we strolled around Bailey Road, spent some time together, and then went our separate ways—she went home, and I went back to mine.

Once home, I worked on my CV. It was a total mess before, but now I think it’s good enough. To my shock, it turned into a 5-page CV—I never imagined I had that much to put down. Soon after, I started getting a headache, so I had dinner while watching Dan Da Dan season 1 episode 8, and then went to bed around 12.

Looking back, it was a nice day—full of small routines, bits of productivity, time with someone I care about, and even a reminder of how much I’ve grown.
